What I had to do to dual boot with Windows was move the windows drive to the slave position. I'm sure that there are other ways to get it to work. Then install DSL on the master drive so grub goes onto this MBR. Then you have to fool Windows into thinking that it's still on the master drive. If you're doing a frugal, you can't edit lilo.conf, so you have to use grub. If you're doing a full install, then I'm not sure. Here are my notes from my frugal install with dual boot:
