Hi ! I 'd like to finalize my DSL install.
I managed to get DSL running on this *old* VAIO, I made a small  HowTo about this.

I prepared my HD as follows :

/dev/hda1 NTFS 1000Mb (resized using ntfsresize !!)
/dev/hda2 Linux Swap 256Mb
/dev/hda3 Linux /home 500Mb
/dev/hda4 Linux / 1800Mb

And installed DSL in hd4 using the DSL GRUB frugal installer.

However, I have to pass the cheatcodes to the dsl kernel each time w/ GRUB. Oh well, I'll fiddle w/ GRUB docs.

My question :

#How do I *save* my SDL settings ? At each boot I have to choose the XServer type, the mouse type, then the KB layout, THEN again, edit various desktop setting..? What are the necessary files to edit ?

Or is it impossible too really *install* DSL ? Please tell me, so I don't search for nothing :(

EDIT 2006-01-17 06:05:55 Hey, I did it... I mean... I don't know HOW I did it but now the system boots W/ all the good settings, w/o asking anything !
##

Thank you but I had already read (and followed) this very document. And it does not really describes an *install*...?
But now, still, I have to go through those 3 screens (X server type, mouse & KB layout) And it's really a pain, not to mention error prone.

BTW, I finnaly chose a "debian type install"... It's great ! I uses my SWAP partition (yay!) and I have setup a *separate* home via the fstab, and users in it ! AND it prompts me for a login ! Just great, only :

Where, oh WHERE, are the relevant config files for the 3 blue screens ? I ruins the whole idea of "installing to HD" !  WHERE do I get to *write down* those mere 3 prefs ? I already heavily customized .xinitrc, and other various dotfiles, but those 3 are NOWHERE to be found ! I can't even find my XF86Config...? Come on, you DSLers *obviously* know how to set those X prefs UP ! Please ! Thank you very much !!
