Alright, I have a Toshiba Portege 3440CT that i have created a new partition and formatted FAT16. It has a USB-FDD and an external PCMCIA CD-Rom that i can boot off of, but it wont find the KNOPPIX file system. A Windows 98 boot disk doesnt recognise the CD-ROM either. I am going to try and use a USB thumb drive and copy the KNOPPIX folder from cd which is in other computer to the thumb drive then from the thumb drive to the harddrive using the Windows 98 boot disk command copy x:\KNOPPIX\*.* c:\KNOPPIX and then boot from the cd and then run the HD install after i boot from the cd. Does this look like it will work (like would the boot disk recognise the thumb drive? Is there any way to copy files from the CD drive to the HD using the KNOPPIX (very limited) shell? any help would be cool...
