After I install DSL on my HD i am able to reboot 1 or 2 times until
i run across a boot failure.  "error while loading shared libraries
libxmuu.so1 cannot open shared object file - no such file or directory"
would very much appreciate any ideas , have a feeling problem may be caused by "apt-get" update or installing synapyic? :(

The file should exist in your /usr/X11R6/lib directory.

It is a symlink pointing to libXmuu.so.1.0

Chances are you nuked it if you did an apt-get dist upgrade or installed a synaptic or apt package that included XFree86 libraries.

To get rid of this specific error, you can try booting from livecd and then copy the files mentioned here over to your hard drive.

However, I suspect that you will just encounter even more errors down the road so you should probably just re-install DSL.

In the long run, it will probably be quicker.
