If we enter "pon" in the dsl desktop XTerm, it won't work. We have to su in the XTerm, enter the root password & then enter "pon" as root. To make things easier we created a telephone dial icon on the dsl desktop & added a dsl user account of "1" so that when we clicked on the icon the PPP Dial window came up, we entered 1 in the window, clicked dial & the internet connection was made. This worked the first time but after that it did not. In the subsequent PPP Dial Messages we see various USER=root ; COMMAND=/bin/kill messages What do we need to change so that the dsl user account of "1" works every time?
