I am using a Compaq evo N115 laptop with an AMD Duron processor and I'd like to make the touchpad work.  Right now the only way I can use a mouse is to plug in a USB mouse before boot.  I'm using DSL v 3.0.1

From the searches I've done, it sounds like I need to install XFree86.dsl, but I don't understand the instructions that I've found so far.  I'd like to keep booting off the CD and not install on the harddrive.  Is there a way I can burn the installation to the CD so it's permanent?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You could use the mkmydsl script that's included on the cd, or manually place your extensions/backups to the / or /mydsl of the cdrom for autoloading, or remaster the dsl image.

You could, of course, create another track, but it won't be seen by the regular tools I should think.

I use CD-RW's myself, though.
