Ok, guys here are some photos of my picture frame... some on the wall and some on the sofa...
And some of the photos I took while making it.
Gallery link
The photos are NOT in chronological order.
It is (or was) a very old HP Omnibook 2000 CT... Pentium 133, 32MB RAM...

Let me know if you have any questions.
The photos will not be there forever... so feel free to download them if you like them.

Thank you for the pics!!!

That looks really nice!

....and inspiring.

I have a Compaq Armada 1520DM that is begging to be hacked and hung on a wall.

Thanks again.

Im really in to this! However, the instructions on the first page of this post (khagberg's post) don't work with a frugal install (zgv couldn't be installed properly I guess because frugal creates a read only file system). I have done an hd install then followed the instructions and everything worked great. Now I need to put it onto a compact flash (as a frugal install). Step1=remaster Step2=frugal install to cf.

My problem... how to remaster my custom dsl picture frame from an hd install? I found this link (wow, that looks complicated):

http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....76;st=5

Does it have to be so difficult?

Before I resort to following that link, Is it possible running dsl toram then follow the instructions in this post (page1 khegberg's post)? My feeling is that zgv will not integrate properly into dsl (toram)  as it would not with a frugal install (e.g. it needs to write files that dsl won't want it to).  Is my assumption correct?

btw...  khegberg's post was extremely helpful! I have a running dsl picture frame because of his informative post.

With a frugal install adding

write

to the end of the boot line makes it writeable.

It did for me anyhow.

I originally installed this on a hrad drive but the harddrive is making to much noise now. I will be putting it on a cf card soon.

Does anyone have a remastered image that is available for download? I am trying to make a photo frame but have NO experience with Linux :(

i have managed to get the laptop I am using installed with DSL from the Live CD but am not having much luck trying to get the other packages on (would help if I could connect the laptop to the net from what I have read).

Any help for a Linux gumby would be much appreciated.
