If it's not finding a boot image, then:

1. you didn't get a proper burn of the CD image, or

2. you need the syslinux version for your computer.

How you burned your cd? I used Alcohol 120%, you can find it with google. Cd should have folders named Boot, Knoppix, Lost&Found(not sure about that) and index.html. If you just extracted the iso with winrar or anything else and burned files to cd, it will not work. Another way to install it is to make loadlin install, instructions can be found from dsl wiki, i did it for my oldlaptop, or you can install from usb, if you have usb and somekind of an usb stick.

You need to get the live CD to work in order to be able to do anything - if you weren't able to do this yet, you might have one of two problems:

1. a faulty ISO to burn from OR
2. troubles with GRUB

I suspect the first. So there's a rather simple solution: Check MD5SUMs just to make sure you've got a functional ISO - your CD burning app should provide you with a tool to do that, and the .md5 file is on the download mirror right next to the ISO (visually speaking :;):). And: Burn as CD image, not as as file - you'll have to have to CONTENTS of the ISO, not the ISO on disk! That's what may have happened - annoying, but happens to everyone once...

If this isn't working, go to the main download server (ibiblio), enter the "current" directory and choose the "syslinux" ISO (this works better on some machines, especially with quirky BIOSes).

As for a "dsl.exe": DSL is an operating system, no simple single program or tool. And it's not directed at Windows users to have a nice gadget at their hands, but is a fully functional working environment the size of an average application in M$ terms of thinking - that's what makes it special, okay? So don't think this'll be on anyone's agenda soon...

Edit:
Rats, I always miss the fact that iconboard doesn't automagically put you to the end of a thread... sorry for the doubling up... If anyone wants me to edit that stuff out completely, just tell me...
