No, I did not do frugal .... I read that if I do a HDD install, I end up w/Debian, which is fine w/me. But do I have to do backup/restore every time I do something?

Also, what is the path for /tmp, I can't find it in /home or /usr! THX

/tmp refers to the root dir, but since you are running the debian-style way, I have no idea how it is set up.
