Your office network probably has DHCP handing out leases for IP adresses. DSL loves a DHCP enabled network, you just plugin and GO !... Nice...
You home network may not be DHCP enabled. If not, you'll have to assign an IP manually for your DSL install.
In your menu , what does "System > Net Setup > netcardconfig" do for you when you use it to setup your networking?
And yes, you can download the .dsl files to most anything, CDR, USB key, CF, copy to empty HD space, whatever, and use the myDSL button in emelfm to load them up.
