hi. thanks for posting the question here! yeah, you should try the other iso.
The iso designated 'syslinux' works well on some older machines and laptops that wont boot with the normal isolinux image.
In my case, the isolinux (standard) image wouldn't work on a 1997 laptop which boots from CD, so i downloaded and used the syslinux iso, whereas the isolinux has worked fine everywhere else. If one does not work, try the other one and you should have better luck. If no go on either one of those, there are alternatives to booting from the CD such as installing a bootloader on the hard drive (grub or alternative) to load the boot images and boot DSL and it will read the CD image from the CD rom.
