i just recently purchased the damn small linux cd because i messed up my win 98 computer so i could still get to use it. its very easy to use linux on it since it doesnt interfere with the harddrive and i am loving it so far but my problems is that the main reason i wanted to use the computer was for internet purposes. i am using a router and before windows 98 stopped working, i was able to connect to the internet through it but with linux, the ethernet cable cannot be detected. how do i set it up inorder to connect to the net?

Hmm..

Can you open an xterminal window and type:

lspci | more

or just

lspci

and see if there is any information about a netowork card model number or manufacturer.  Also, if you own a computer that was completely built by the manufacturer (IE: Dell, HP, Compaq, Gateway, E-Machines, etc) then what is the manufacturer and model of the PC itself?
