I clicked on MyDSL->Apps->Abiword.dsl.info (version 2.0.1)! So I always should click on MyDSL->Gtk2->... first? Yes, this could be the reason.

Power down problem: I have installed DSL to hard disk once more! Now "KNOPPIX halted" is shown yellow, and my computer turns off automatically (but I do not know why; it seems that the first installation was not 100% correct(??)). I will have a look at this phenomenon and will report when it will occur again! --- Melancholie

Hmm, it is really weird but sometimes my computer turnes off automatically, sometimes the PC has to be turned off and the most time my computer freezes like I have written before. I think the KNOPPIX hardware detection is not 100% ok for my PC in this case!? Is this possible? Or is there a option I could change to adapt DSL for my old PC? What I have seen so far the shutdown works normally when using DSL on LiveCD. But I am not sure, because I am switching off my computer just once per day (especially because Linux does not need to be rebooted all the time like windows) --- Melancholie

k...I'm back on the same bug i was complaining about before...

The midnight commander thingy was sorta fixed by 1.0 (maybe earlier...i dunno), but i'm still seeing permissions problems.
Currently you can start mc as root, close it, and successfully open it as dsl (thank you).  However, it seems that you can't open mc as root and then open it as dsl while the root mc is still running.  Apparently root is taking control of a tmp file and not allowing dsl to open it?  I'm not sure at this point, but it is rather frustrating if you are editing a file as root in mc and want to open up a new instance of mc as dsl....seems you have to close root mc and re-open the file in another program.

EDIT: Maybe it's just a problem with mc occasionally screwing up,  but it seems to happen with enough regularity to be a small problem.  It seems to happen only the first time, and only if you don't close the root mc at all.  If you initially start a root mc, close it, reopen, and then start mc as dsl, things are apparently okay.

I am experiencing the same problem: when i try to shutdown the PC after a HD install, either through console commands or with the desktop menu, the screen freezes and i cannot input anything from keyboard even if an apllication launches. After some time the pc does not shutdown, although you can hear a sound that you usually hear 1-2 seconds before shutdown (that happens repeatedly).
Another problem is very slow IO performance: when i try to dd a partition it lasts for ages.
My hardware is intel P4 2.66, 1GB RAM, Gigabyte GIG875 Ultra motherboard.
The live CD is ok however.
