Opera has far better features than Firefox. I recommend it, but encountered problems under DSL....
When using Opera you definitely want to use the excellent RESTORE feature in DSL to restore bookmarks, etc. But each time i booted with -- "dsl restore=fd0" -- my Opera folder was assigned ownership of "root"!! [[Same folder was "dsl.staff" without the RESTORE. ]] Trying to open anything in the Opera folder then after the RESTORE was impossible. Opera would not start.
I have solved this problem by using the WORKER file manager in "root" mode and changing the ownership of the Opera folder back to "dsl.staff" every time i boot. This is not that much trouble, but i did try to automate the change by entering a "sudo chown... " command in in one of the boot scripts. Unfortunately SUDO has "many compile options" [[some Linux site said]] and i could not get SUDO to work at all. [[NO, I WAS NOT CAPITALIZING FOR HEAVENS SAKE, I AM JUST tryIN TO MAKE THIS POST READAbbllBLEabbl.]]
So if some expert Linux Lunatic would investigate and find the fix for myDSL Opera when using RESTORE, it would be appreciated... Also, how about Opera 8.50?
P.S. If you would put DSL with Opera properly installed on a CD, i bet you could make some real money... -- Harrold Rufus Wertmuller
