I have installed dsl on my HD and all seemed to go fine, but it refuses to start X, leaving me at the command prompt, which I am getting very good at using! I have a feelling that it has something to do with my hardware. Some time ago the integrated graphic chip (sis 5579) packed in and I put a pci Matrox Millennium II card in to replace it an all seems to be fine. I feel that Linux is detecting the old chip still and setting up to support that one instead of the pc card. How do I resolve this and get the kernel to ignore the integrated chip? In Winblows it is simply a case of disabling it in the hardware properties and does not cause much heart ache! Any advice would be great, but remember that I am quite new to the Linux way of life.
