Quote (doobit @ April 17 2006,11:20) | Quote (xQuarkDS9x @ April 15 2006,23:21) | For the heck of it I tried Knoppix 5 DVD version and it detected the mouse fine. So in a way I'm not entirely sure why the old 2.1 release of DSL detected my mouse, but the new one doesn't. |
DSL 2.1 used a more recent kernel (2.4.31) than DSL 2.3 (kernel 2.4.26). Maybe the Dell mouse needs a newer driver? Knoppix 5 uses a 2.6 kernel which is more recent, so it should have drivers for newer hardware.
There are a few really advanced mice out there, but I thought they were all pretty much the same technology. |
It's possible the Dell Optical mouse could need a newer driver. I got this system brand new back in January so the system is only 4 month's old.
