Is the a search command or tool that will do what Windows "search for file and folders" will do?

if it's a frugal install and if you didn't enable backup, then you can say goodbye to your four pages.  Sorry.  The "default" directory is most likely /home/dsl, which exists in ram in a typical live CD or frugal system.  Everything in that directory reverts to its original state on reboot unless you set a partition on which to backup your files, or use a persistent home.

If you have a debian style harddrive install, then i don't know what might have happened to your files.
