Keep in mind that Windows NT/2000/XP partitions, called "NTFS" are READ-ONLY so you will need some kind of alternative storage location to stick your "rescued" files when you copy them from the hard drive.  For example, a USB stick, a CD-R disk, a network share drive, a FAT/FAT32 partition, etc.

It is a Knoppix/DSL based distro. It has alot of cool recovery/troubleshooting tools AND full read-write support for NTFS-partitions (so they claim)
