Please help a newbie.

I downloaded DSL from LG to my hard drive. The file size was 35MB (I thought it would be 50 MB). I burned the file using Nero as and image. Before Nero started the download, I got a message that said: The entered block size does not correspond to the image length. The block size may be wrong. Do you wnat to correct the value or ignore the problem? I clicked ignore. Was this the correct thing to do?

I placed the CD in my computer and rebooted but my Windows 95 OS loaded instead of DSL.

I rebooted again and hit the F8 key and a window poped up with: Microsoft Windows 95 Startup Menu with these options
1) Normal 2) Logged (\BOOTLOG.TXT) 3) Safe Mode 4) Safe mode with network support 5) Step-by-step confirmation 6) Command prompt only 7) Safe mode command prompt only

Could I use any of these options to boot from the CD drive?

I also have a boot floppy. Is there a command I could type at the A prompt to boot from the CD drive?

Thanks in advance for any help. I am soooooo tired of Windows.

Thanks,
Yeto

Ok man... don't panic...

First at all, you need to re-download the iso file (until you have the requested size (50MB).
Then burn it again.

Note that you have to enter BIOS setup and redirect the boot device to CD-ROM drive.

If you still have problems... call me.

Take care... and don't panic... we always have a first time in all the moments of the life...

Okay, I've got a good download.

I rebooted but Windows 95 comes up instead of DSL.

Could someone please advise as to what I should do next? I want to run DSL as a live CD.

Thanks,
Yeto

Download the DSL boot floppy image file from the DSL download site.

Download a copy of rawrite2 or rawrite32 from the internet and use it to create a boot floppy disk from the image file.

Insert the newly created boot floppy and CDR disk and reboot your computer.

If this doesn't work, then boot back into  Windows95 and copy the \knoppix\knoppix file over from the CD into your C:\ drive.

C:\knoppix\knoppix

ALL lowercase letters for the directory and file names.

Then reboot again with the boot floppy inserted.

Good Luck.
