Every time I try to download DSL I get kicked off line at around 32MB. I am using Netzero dialup.

I have ordered a copy of the software but would like to get started before the software arrives. Is there a trick to help me download the whole file without getting kicked off line?

Thanks,
Yeto

Yeto,
If you're using linux, open a terminal and type or paste
wget http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub....0.1.iso
or go for the syslinux version.
If i remember rightly, wget will retry interrupted down loads.

"wget -c <url>" should resume if you're disconnected.

Another way is to use an ftp client which supports resume.  This is what i do and it works fine.  I'm on dialup and it usually disconnects (or i have to pause the download) at least once with a 50mb file.

Make sure you also download the md5 file so you can verify that the download completed successfully.

I'm on dial-up also and there is no way that I would be happy with being disconnected.
The strategy I use for keeping abreast of new releases of my favorite live-distro "DSL" is
to use the hi-speed net connection at my local library.

I can d'load anywhere from 200-300 MB in the hour that is allocated to users there.
So you could possibly grab the latest .iso and your favorite .ext's while there.

Check out your local library it may be a good "net resource" for you. Also go prepared with some media to write to-CDR's,USB "pendrive",etc. You'll have to check out your libraries policy on downloading and saving data.

Thanks to all who posted.

I downloaded Star Downloader from www.download.com and was able to download the file by using the resume feature.

Thanks for all the help.
