Hi, I was experimenting with the USB thumb (pen) drives and noticed a few anomalies:
1. DSL can see my usb thumb drive upon bootup and it works ok.
2. However, if I umount, disconnect the usb thumb drive and then reconnect afterwards, DSL can't seem to re-detect it again making it unusable.
3. The same thing happens if I'm switching from 1 usb thumb to another.
4. I tried modifying the /etc/fstab & /etc/mtab, I tried to somehow re-run the hotplug modules (?), umounting, remounting with other driver partitions or letters (e.g. sda2. sda3, /proc/bus/usb, etc.) and some other more bizarre ideas.
5. I also did some research on the older postings on the forums (someone mentioned that it might take 20-30 secs or so for the autodetect to work) but I can't seem to get anywhere.
6. So, my question is: maybe this is normal ops for DSL or am I missing some arcane and esoteric knowledge necessary (I dunno, conjuring up some magical kernel incantation?) and needed to make DSL re-detect and work with my usb thumb?
Again, any insight will be most appreciated. Thank you all, in advance.
