Thanks for the replies.  When I ctrl alt backspace sudo su and get back to GUI the curser is frozen.  I think I can delete it from Emelfm as when I do, it runs through all the files at the bottom but errors" permission denied".  So if I could get into Emelfm as root I could do it.

How about ctrl-alt-bksp to the prompt,
then sudo su to root,
then "mc" for midnight commander ..
It works very similar to emelfm for deleting files.
Editing files is another matter as it uses vi ..

Hmm...

Maybe it would be a good idea if MC chose "nano" as the default editor instead of vi  because nano is easier to understand for the new user.

Maybe anothe tweak for the next release of DSL??

The numerial commands on the bottom don't work.  I need to be able to log out as user and log back in as root like in Vector.  Oh well, just hate to tie up 25 M.  Thanks.
