aaah, the post install doesn't run if the .conf is already there (i think that's what you said), can you post an example.conf file please.

I have an idea on the pkgs requiring post install. clacker posted instructions on capturing all changes after a certain timestamp. See the subject, "Yet another way to make dsl files, using apt-get, find, grep, and tar." That looks the most promising.
