On my Dell laptop, EXPERT mode autodetects and gets it running perfectly. Every other option fails as you described.

Im running into the same problem here. But I noticed that if you boot with both the cd and the usb pen drive it loads perfectly fine. You have to run from the usb pen drive but you have to have the cd in the drive as well.

Where can I download 2.1rc1?

OK. So I figured out that if you boot without USB 2.0 support it should work fine. Im gonna try DLS 2.1rc1 now. Hoepfully all goes well.
