If you are talking about mydsl extensions, then, those are not in any backup.
The extensions are  large and static and you would not want them in every backup.

Since you booted from usb, then it is important to know if you used a usbzip or usbhdd install.

If zip style then you have a small partition and a large partition. In this case I would mount sda2, then second (large) partition, make a directory called mydsl and then copy the extensions there. You will not have to do anything else. They will be restored at next boot.

If you used usbhdd then you have a single large partition, simply copy the extensions to /cdrom as user root, or drag and drop them there with emelfm superuser. Booting from usb means the device is mounted at /cdrom. Again, no other action is necessary.

Of course this applies to recent versions of DSL and using the install scripts provided.
