Forgot to say: Thanks for the info. Adding the cheatcodes to syslinux.cfg works like a charm.

Thanks also to the creator of the fine USB-ZIP installation script.

Now if I could get my Samsung ML-1710 printer working...
And do I have to remember to back up my configuration each time before I reboot, or is there a way to do it automatically?

(Sorry, just greedy.)

P.S. What all is on those CDs and DVDs, anyway? <edit> Never mind, I see.

Once you specify a backup device, your backups should be done automatically upon shutdown.

Look for a "backing up blah blah" message to appear as part of the shutdown message.

Adssse,

Yes,

The T-Shirts are planned as an addition to the DSL store.

I had them made for the LinuxWorld Convention,
but they were such a hit, we discussed having a quantity made.

(even the mepis folks at LW were asking if we had any for sale!)

Stay Tuned..

Wow, even better!

(Sometime soon, someone will probably make a DSL extension that includes all the current CUPS printer drivers. Hint, hint.)

The best part of DSL's USB key installation scripts is that they can be used as templates to get other distros going from a USB key. For example, there's an interesting distro named CPX-Mini, based on Kanotix (my main distro), but its "install to USB key" script only uses USB-HDD geometry (and GRUB rather than SysLinux). My mobo won't boot it for some reason. So there's a good possibility I can use the commands in DSL's USB-ZIP installation script to format, partition, and install a bootloader (probably SysLinux) so that CPX-Mini boots correctly.

One would assume that, after the proper key geometry is set by the DSL script, it doesn't need to be done again.
