Maybe I've been staring at this for too long but I just don't get it...I'm using LinNeighborhood and bringing files down from my wife's windoze computer is no problem...but if I try to write something to it I'm dead in the water?  Did I forget to do something?

Are you trying to write to the same place?  Make sure on that host computer the target shared directories are given read+write.
