It's really ke4nt's call. We can make the repository as modular as we want but I am not sure where you draw that line. We now have a gtk2 section so in theory you could have a SDL gaming section but that is more work for ke4nt I would think.

The feedback I get from John and Robert is have the minimum of
modularity in the extensions ( as few "depends-on-*.dsl" ) as possible.

The idea is to have most extensions run as-is* from the
booted stock LiveCD, with few necessities.

** not to include the gnu-utils.dsl,
which I suggest having installed ANYTIME you intend to
expand your DSL filesystem beyond the minimal distro..
Busybox is NO substitute for true utils when building a custom filesystem.. **

The gtk2.dsl is so fat, it was MY desire only to have a factored out group of extensions
that would share the package,
giving folks an option not to have to download it with every extension.
Notice that I have also made full packages that DO include the
entire gtk2 set inside the extension as well, for folks that want
to install only the one app to a stock install.

It was my intention to make the gtk2 subset
an exception to the rule, rather than an example.
I hope in the future that the gtk2 factored apps section continues to grow.
It will be far easier to upgrade/maintain both the libs and
the apps in the gtk2 area than rebuilding all of the full versions with every upgrade/change..

That was my next thought....
SDL.dsl for the benefit of mankind.
But I see Ke4nt's point.

Didn't mean to deflect Frozen-Bubbledness
of thread.....really hanging out for it!

It is posted - a full version.. In the " testing " area..

I want to also make a " lite " version - the sound alone is over 6 MB's
Without sound it should be closer to 10MB's,
and play better on challenged systems.

for making it possible.
I just d'led on dialup, works fine with my
nvidia card and acceleration. Can't try it
on anything else until I go back to work
Monday (I've given myself a secondary
role as DSL tester for the company-
they'll appreciate it some day, maybe
give me an award or something....).
I'll just have to get them all using Linux
first......

The quest you seek is difficult at first, adraker .. I remember w.h.e.n.........
( sounds of time drifting back to an earlier day, many moons ago.. )

Many thought I was just "toying" around with a new distro.
...." that linux thing he does " ....

months pass.....

time spent laughing at others reinstalling their os's, or fighting yet
another round of biff, crud, and bugs.. and more reinstalls...and updates....

( Hey, what'cha doin? ) I say.. with a rather large grin on my face..
He knew that I knew WHAT he was doing, but you GOTTA rub it in sometimes? :laugh:

(grr.. downloading my video drivers again .. I wanna play RTCW,
but I had to reinstall my windows, and all my software, cause my HD crashed. ) he says..

... it's not his fault, ....really....
... Besides, I appreciated receiving his old 'perfectly working' hard drive...

( Here, boot this... ) I hand over a DVD-R
( What is it? ) he asks?
( RTCW, UT, Q3, and a few others ) ....I smile.
( But I haven't installed my Drivers yet?) he mumbles.
( after your download, boot it ) .. I said ..
( boot it?) he appears puzzled, like deer caught in front of headlights.
( yes, boot it up.. )

I smile, and exit...

....more time passes....

( Linux? I need Windows!..) is heard defiantly... :angry:

... computer boots up into beautiful X , with icons ...
....more time passes.... sound of gunfire, mayhem..

I return, only to find a drooling , jonesing game fiend getting his 'fix'..

( Hey , what'cha doin? ) I say, again..
( WoW! ..) ..is the only word spoken, amidst more gunfire.

I didn't expect to get that DVD back anyway!
