The readme stated that it should build without much trouble on a system with fortran-77, C, and X dev tools, all of which I have.  However, when i tried to build the binaries i was told that I was missing "blas".  After a short google i assume this is the Basic Linear Algebra Subprograms, but i haven't done anything to install it yet.

I was able to get xfoil to compile.  You can get the blas using apt-get install blas and after modifying the makefile a little (gcc3 -> gcc and adjusting for include locations) it compiled fine.

I made an xfoil.dsl from it and if mikshaw doesn't mind, I'll submit it.

waitaminute.

I'm not sure exaclty I get  where Robert's view of this goes, but I feel maybe it's a bit like ticket touting.
You create a sports or concert venue and officially sell tickets only later see them exchanging in the 'market' for 10 to 50 times their value, only in this case the initial value is zero. The punters have their own reasoning  -it's the only way I can get a seat, I'll pay anything- which is sound reasoning since most of the tickets are held by the 'elite' and hey, it fills the seats. But the organisers can't help but feel short changed.
This seems okay as long as the money gets back to the developers. But how do we know this for sure? How do we know it doesn't get to the point that no tickets will see the day of light unless 'donation' requests are made? Shouldn't the donations be first sent and put on some official request list? After all they are 'donations' aren't they, not 'orders' ?

I think that is the thing this is a donation. not an order. sort of like pledging an donation. Sometimes the pledges will not get there But lets not sew distrust without reason. I thought I saw a list of people who donated but if not maybe they will add one. The people who created dsl read the forums maybe the will be kind enough to tell us when the donation  has been made.
If not keep in mind they indicated they was against this ideal. But I am for the honor system first.
