Why dont you just do minimal debian install and start there to build your "dream linux"? It would be allmost the same as dsl without any applications, little bit bigger.
Or do a appless dsl remaster.
Or do a minimal slackware install.
Or do Arch linux install with only basic stuff installed.
Or minimal install of any linux distro.

And i think that John and Roberts are busy enough to keed dsl and dsl-not up and running.

Maybe a community project? Who knows.

fxb, i run DSL on a old laptop that has no harddrive, cdrom is if'y and floppy sucks. So i need there fantastic work that i can load straight into ram and run from there. My biggest problem is just getting it into ram, like i said the cdrom is if'y and some times it takes several tries but once i get it there it runs like a champ. Like everyone i prefer certain apps and i am limited by my ram. I'm not asking them to stop what there doing and jump right on this, as i can adjust my needs to make what's currently available work for me. If it were possiable for me to install a os it would be mepis or ubuntu. But i am just making a idea and a suggestion so no big deal.

sounds extremly good to me [*1] => it basically refers to my thread

[*1]making everything optional - what is not essentially needed for running DSL with GUI :>

I do have the same wish since a long time
to the dsl comunity to have a ExtremeSmallLinux
and haveing the possibility to add all via extentions.

As you i also got the answers from the forum :
"Why don't you strip down"..
"Why don't you use another distro"...
"Why don't you install any base linux and then add"...

My answers are also alway the same :
1. I can't do the strip because auf the dependencies
2. I like DSL ! why take an other one ?
3. I do not have eough know how to generate my own live cd.
4. Why should be the wheel be drafted twice ?
5. Doesn't it fit into how dsl is desinged (more or less) ? More than in any other distribution ?

I am always getting a kind of fu*** off and go away.
I do not know why.

Once again as i told many times before :
I love te work the devs have done and still doing there !

This is a suggestion/wish !

I hear you. I am not telling anyone to go away. All suggestions are taken to heart.
I do have such an animal. Maybe the infrastructure that I have created with the MyDSL system is mature enough.
Personally I felt the docs were not. It does give me great satisfaction to see those of you who "really do get it". :D

And finally who knows, maybe there will a DSL-M.
M for mini, micro, mine, minime, modular, modern, ....
