..
I could keep delaying 4.0 with another RC.

Does this mean, that we have to wait even longer for a DSL 5 release with a 2.6.x kernel ? I am a little bit disappointed.
When do you think to start with DSL 5 ?

I wish I could use DSL again, but I can't as there is no support for newer computers due to the 2.4.x kernel.
In the past, we have thought that there is no problem, but now we know, that there is no SATA support for all computers, no LAN support for all computers, ....

Why not doing a pre-pre-pre-pre release of DSL 5 ( same as DSL 4 but with a 2.6.x kernel ).
Is this really so much effort or re-programming ?

Do the new computer owners a favor please, if it could be done in an easy way. Would be great.

This post is very inappropriate. It does not provide any feedback on the use of DSL 4. It contains outlandish flame bait remarks. Just because your SATA cdrom is not supported does not warrant

SATA hard drives are supported. Same goes for no LAN support for all computers.
Nor does posting of this kind provide any impetus for the developer to abandon the current project.
I would suggest not to keep reposting your current displeasure with DSL.

using dfm to delete a file in /tmp/mydsl/ I got something like touch: premission denied....
I would suggest to download the .info of the mydsl optional extension in the mydsl folder.

legalize cannabis, etc

Thanks, will check it out.

A small question. What is this directory all about ? /tmp/mydsl.icons

This directory is loaded from all the existing mydsl extensions. Currently not used. Currently I am using a generic icon. This will change when I have a chance to update the many extensions. I was thinking to not delay 4.0 for this. Let 4.0 be released with generic icon and then work on converting icons in the extensions for 4.1. I am open to suggestions. I could keep delaying 4.0 with another RC.

Thanks for fixing those DSL extensions . All good now here. I guess there might be a few more like those discovered in time.

I am currently using a tar.gz DSL extension to unpack a couple of icons (XPM's) . Maybee you will drop the use of /tmp/mydsl.icons/ in the future releases and changes.
Do you see a problem with unpacking them to /usr/share/dfm/icons/ ??

Thanks for your efforts. V4 is shaping up nicely.
Have you looked at conky as a replacment for torsmo ?

Does conky work for the Libettro and other non-standard battery names? I have no way to know. Open to suggestions.

/usr/share/dfm/icons would be read-only on livecd and legacy booted systems. Also, I would want to try to support 3.4.x series as well. That would suggest keeping /tmp/mydsl.icons/. The 3.4 series xtdesk supports xpm. So it is a matter of churning through all the extensions to support both 3.4 and 4.x. It is my next venture.
