The boot option of "noicons" also has not been changed and still works as before.
What is new is the option to specify icons=xtdesk and the new boot option of "classic". Using classic is only a shortcut for desktop=fluxbox icons=xtdesk

Then there must be more files in my backup that prevents what I'm trying. I want to restore the good ole' 3x look and I've replaced the three files mentioned in this threads first post. However, whatever combinations of cheatcodes and whatever I try, this is where I'm at:
I've got fluxbox and fluxter the pager OK, but whatever I try icons stays dfm and no xtdesk. And wmswallow presents a white rectangle with no mounttool or anything inside.
However, when I boot with the "norestore" option all work as intended AFAIK... So obviously more files in my backup should be replaced/modified. I don't really want to start from scratch as that backup.tar.gz contains numerous costumizations I've added over time and all else works OK. So I'll rather localize and fix the actual problem(s)... Any clues anybody?
