Hi,

I am new to DSL.  I just copied dsl-2.4.iso to a CD and was so excited to see the 1st boot up penguin screen on my old notebook using win98.  But then just by accident, I switched off the power while it's booting up.  I then tried to boot the CD again.  But this time, the screen only shows a cursor for a while and continue to boot win98 instead DSL.  It's seems that the CD just can't boot now.  I am sure that the CD and CD ROM are fine.  I wonder if the interrupted 1st boot wrote something on the hard disk that prevent the CD to boot.  Any ideas ?

Thanks.

Hi,
maybe it's just a problem in your bios, which doesn't boot to the CD-ROm because it is not set as your first boot option?

You have then to go to your bios (hit the appropriate key at computer start) and to set the right start options (CD-->HD, etc.).

And you should good to go!

Hi,

Yes, I had.  My boot option was set to boot from CD-ROM first.  So I had seen it start to boot once.  It's just did not complete the boot when I switch off my notebook.  Any other suggestion ?

Thanks.

Hi,

I got it finally.  I think it's due to the speed I used to burn the CD.  I burnt another with 16X and this works fine.  But I still struggling with my wireless lan card.

Thanks.
