Hi,
Before trying to install DSL i considered myself computer savvy, however trying to get DSL to save my configuration has me just about ready to throw my PC out of the window.
My configuration: I have an old AMDK6 400Mhz with 128 MB of RAM. I have two hard drives installed, the first one has Win98 and is about 2GB. The second one has DSL installed and is 3GB. When I did the frugal isntall using Grub i selected install to hdb1. DSL boots fine and so does windows.
My problem: - I cannot figure out how to save my configuration ( I read dillo, I read many posts to this forums) I need step by step instructions please. Where to look for a file, where to save it, how to save it, etc. - In trying to save my configuration I tried to edit the menu.lst file but it is read only. I found it using elmfm as superuser in KNOOPIX/boot/grub but it cannot be written to. - I read in the post about hd5=home, etc, but I have no idea what you are talking about. - I did manage to keep my extensions by copying them to the /cdrom folder, but I also read about /myDSL folder. What is the difference? Is one better than the other?
There are a lot of questions, but I am really lost here. Please help!
