eeh yeah indeed, the situation i discribed is linux only :cool:

and i always did make my partitions with cfdisk in the logical-order i discribed, maybe that's whay it always worked for me this way ..?
both my slackware (10 hdd's) and my dsl got it in logical-order as i discribed. could be luck tho.

anyway, i tryed to discribe the boot-order, and think it worked

lets have a party for freykatt, who can enjoy the greatness of DSL now

hey kamaradsky, best idea I've heard in a while, I'll spring for the "medicine". Well, ya don't know what a pleasure to see this thing thru, even tho I knew it hada be fairly simple, I was like a little kid afraid to take out the trash in the dark (not sure what kinda buggers out there). This opened my eyes to a lot of stuff. Thank you for your help! I tried to set up my telco connection last nite, but am running into a brick wall, maybe "drivers", it dosen't seem to recognize my modem. will look for drivers on the net. Big beautiful sunny day here in upstate N.Y. today, sitting here looking out the window at the ski mountain in my backyard, the skiers are havin a ball. Have a great one ya'll.

but hey i dont care much about weather, i got linux haha.

sorry i cant help you with your modem, i hate those things.
only thing i can say about it, it has to be a "hardware modem". You can tell if it is by the components that are on it. You need to have a big chip and loads of little critters. also there should be a wirespool (often red) present.
they called hardware modem cos the are driver completly by the hardware itselfs.

so called winmodems, are software modems with only little thingy's and a smaller chip. they are driven by software inside windows and will NOT work in ANY linux. as far as i know.

so you need to find out before you go search drivers.
if you post me the type/details i can try find out for ya.

Hi kamaradsky, you mustof shoved some of your rain up this way as it is calling for a little rain, sleet, and snow, now we can use the snow for the skiers, but you can keep the rain thank you, HAR. Anyway, thanks for the offer, the only name my modem has is "standard modem". Anyway, there is still lots to do and lots to learn and get acquainted with once you get into Linux, huh? It will be interesting to do a little surfing thru your country. Don't take no wooden nickles in the meantime.

anyway, post me photo's of your modem-card (up and downside) and i might be able to find-out.
(i'm a computer repair guy, so i know quite a lot hardware)
