Everythign is working wonderfully for me (Even my wireless card wiht zero effort. :)) except I'm stuck in 800 x 600 resolution. I know htis monitor and this hardware is capable of more. Any suggestions on how to get it up to 1024 x 768.

I'm a linux newbie (THis is my first time using any linux distro) so I won't know much what you guys are talking about. I did search to try to find an answer to my problem, but got zilch in results.

Also, if someone could link me to some places on how to upgrade firefox, install pidgin, and some sort of media player that'd be great.

Thanks in advance!

1. To change resolution: run xsetup (and restart X if necessary)

2. Use mydsl.  Not sure if pidgin is in there, but you could always use gaim.  mplayer and xine, amongst others, are popular media players (I'm assuming you mean audio/video players)

I tried running X Setup, but it doesn't change anything. It just keeps me at the same resolution.

BTW, Pidgin is GAIM. They renamed it. Or at least I think...

Yeah, Gaim is now Pidgin. Do you have a normal hd-install? Then you can just edit the file /home/dsl/.xserverrc

Yes, you must restart X after (or boot with the cheatcode "xsetup").

To restart X:
- exit your window manager, or press ctrl+alt+backspace.
- start up X with `startx`

Yes, GAIM was renamed to Pidgin after a naming dispute from AOL.  I was just pointing out you could get it, but that it would be an older release (which may be better for now anyways).
