Hello , yes I had that problem too , many Linux Distros running from CD , but only Knoppix is supporting german language. DSL is based on Knoppix , but as far as I know they removed all foreign languages in the applications to save diskspace. Only way I found is to start at the bootprompt with "boot : dsl lang=de" , and in pathetic writer I can even see the ÄÜÖ s. They dont show up in Syllable . but when the receiver opens the mail boom there they are. It is a elementary question about Linux getting more userfriendly or get lost in space , isnt it ? Anyway I found out that SUSE Linux has avery good support of german language, if you are able to install it I think it is the best choice , and it is still free available ;o)
