I have tried several times to complete a HD install on my Toshiba Liretto 70CT. The install goes to about the point shown below and appears to stop of freeze up. I have let it run now at this point for well over 2 hrs.
This is the end of the screen output just before the freeze. "Now copying all files from the CD to hard disk this will take 2 to 10 minutes, depending on the hardware. Now the root file system is filled with data..." Then a spinning "/" is going on the line following the "data..."
My machine is older (circa 1996), 120 Mhz, 32 Mb RAM, 1.6 Gb HD, the floppy is PCMCIA connected and the CD-Rom drive connects through the docking station. I have had to copy the knoppix.img to the HD in c:\knoppix and have been able to boot with the boot disk. But the system cannot boot from the CD.
Now that I have given some background on the machine, could it be the system cannot handle a HD install? If so why would it work live and not install? Any help or other information would be greatly appreciated. I am fairly new to Linux but am a fairly experienced PC user. I want to be able to resurect this older machine w/ Linux and keep in going into the future while learning a new OS.
Thanks :)
