Ok so i disabled the dhcp thing-
did the netcardconfig - cause i want it to be static ip-
then after i reboot - its not connected to the internet -
but after i do the netcarconfig again it werks - --- can anyone tell me how they have DSL running monkey behind a router------------------Router man pages say , that i have to assign the web server machine a static ip whichi would be 192.168.1.3 and i already opened port 80 on the router and done port forwarding- Thx

besides setting up the static IP, did you also set-up the gateway to the router and the DNS numbers?

What i did , only was disable DHCp ---
ran netcardconfig --- added all #'s there[correctly]-----Other than that i did not do anything--

How would i setup the gateway and the DNS part? Thx cappy

Maybe try
ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.3 netmask 255.255.255.0
to set the static ip
