trippy,
IF you could get your hands on more RAM for this system, that would be the "BEST bang for your buck". DSL does run in 32 megs ram, but you reach limits when running additional programs, and swapping to disk is s o s l o w ! !
Even another 32 megs would really help..
I have a Compaq laptop, which is a 233, with 32 megs RAM.. It's good for small jobs, dillo, mail, some games, network duties, etc. I have an IBM laptop with a 233, and 96 megs RAM.. The difference in speed and performance is amazing.. I can do so much more on it , run the bigger apps like firefox, etc. Much less swapping to disk, and I can run many more programs, with much better useability.
Truly, the processor speed isn't such a big factor, since you know a 166 is going to chug along slowly anyway.. But I want to express how BIG a difference adding more ram would make to your system's performance..
