Hi All,

No matter what I try, I can't make XMMS play my Ogg Vorbis music files. The sound chipset is correctly configured (ie. using tone://1000 produces a tone), but Ogg files won't even load, and M3Us only skip along.

I've even tried resetting the permissions on the files...Am I missing something?

I'm guessing the xmms that comes with dsl does not have the ogg plugin decoders, so you will have to externally download and install them.

I had checked for that in XMMS configuration, and indeed, the decoder plugin appears to have gone missing.

I'll check the MyDSL lists for this.

Failing that, are there alternatives?

I may have found a way to bypass the problem, without giving up my favorite open source player:

I've installed Grip, the flac.dsl plugin (encoder), and the XMMS FLAC decoder. Hope these work...
