Hi,

I also have a USB wireless device not supported as a default by DSL - it is a D-Link DWL-120.  There is a driver that works just fine and I got it working under Knoppix.

So, I read your post on the kernel sources installation with great interest.

Tried your instructions and have a couple of questions.

At the 'make oldconfig' step, I got lots of questions about whether I wanted to do this or that.  Obviously it is impossible to provide specific help but can you recommend a source (URL, etc) where I might educate myself?

Also, there are lots of directories added for architectures, etc.  Do you reckon I could just delete all the directories that refer to hardware not present in my system?

Thanks.

I downloaded DSL the other night and booted to a removable harddrive I use for Linux exploration and it found all of my wireless flawlessly.  I have a wireless network in the house and use Belkin FSD6050 usb adapters.

The only problem is every time after I have booted it the first time it does not find the Belkin.  I cannot figure out what is going on?

sorry i forgot to tell you one step
you should copy /boot/config-2.4.22  to /usr/src/linux/.config
eg. cp /boot/config-2.4.22-xfs /usr/src/linux/.config
then
make old config
There should be a few questions about enable support sth with kernel
you can safely answer "no"

I use an ORINOCO LUCENT SILVER PCMCIA Card,,  it works excellent in my laptop, (Texas Instruments TI5300, P-133MHz, 32MB RAM, 1GB HD) no special instructions, no recompilation of drivers, nada! just plug it in and it works!
