Topic: MA111 v2, Does a Netgear MA111 v2 work with DSL?

Hi all,
I have I have a prism2 usb wlan stick.
I find the two files NETMA111.INF and MA111nd5.sys and move them in /home
But when i do a " ndiswrapper -i netma111.inf"
i have this message:
"netma111 is already installed. Use -e to remove it"
But with "ndiswrapper -l" i have this message : "netcard invalid driver!
netma111 invaled driver!"

so, i try a "netma111.inf" and i have " netma111.inf is not installed"

If you'vegot an idea...

I am pleased that someone else has picked up on this problem. I am beginning to give up on Linux as I do not seem to be able to get a wireless connection. I know this dongle works with this pc on Windows, and I have tried other working dongles but none work with Linux. One thing is consistent it is the error messages!

I have had exactly the same errors as petertosh.

I have also tried the manual route without success.

With prism2 or ndiswrapper the connection just does not appear.

I think what is needed is a clear set of instructions from someone who has it working.

Otherwise Linux, or at least DSL gets a big thumbs down.

What does lsusb show for this device?
It this a Sis162u chip device?
Have you tried the driver at http://www.sis.com as recommended by ndiswrapper list support site?

I cannot find the driver at http://www.sis.com for sis162u. There is a sis162 is it the same? Which version - XP?

You know, without actually owning this device, I cannot answer for certain, I can only point you to the reference site(s) that do have your device listed and what works with it. It is incumbent on you to try and not at each step ask for confirmation. Such confirmation would only be possible if I or someone else actually owned this device with this chipset.

You should first verify the chipset of your device with lsusb, then...

It would appear to me that it is the same driver for Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Window 98 SE.

Try it. Perhaps it will work.
