I've done some googling, results thusfar:
According to the list on the ndiswrapper site, ndiswrapper should work (v8.1.1.0 but not v8.0) but the link to the recommended version of the Windows driver there is dead.
I haven't been able to compile ndiswrapper on dsl.
One report indicates there is a Windows driver which is supposed to work with ndiswrapper on a Sony at ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/Vaio/WLAN/WLD_int_80129000.exe
However dsl's ndiswrapper with this driver locks up the system on modprobing.
Unless someone has a solution, I guess it's dsl-2.1b or dsl-n for ipw2200 for now.
This is a very common wireless card in laptops, including HP/Compaq, Vaio, etc so a solution might be of use to a number of people.
