Well i often tried to setup my wlan card & wpa encryption a time ago ... the configuration was a mess and i searched many threads for some help. I never got my wlancard to work with Damn Small Linux.

Setting up wlan & wpa in puppy linux is great. It only took 5 minutes and all worked fine.

The configuration is truly a simple text file that you create with an editor. To claim it is a mess implies what? For some a gtk-dialog, so-called wizards, are needed for everything? Some even require a system that runs everything as root because it is easier.

I would imagine that a kernel 2.6 would more easily support WPA. And a distro that is 80% larger can provide more and larger GUIs as well.

However, many do indeed run WPA in DSL by simply editing a simple text file. It seems to me that your posts are not here to learn but instead seem only to attack DSL and to promote your fav distro.

I only see, that you attack ME, 'cause i've an other opinion about the wpa thing in dsl ...

I said, that i tried to configure wpa in dsl so many times ... i know, that it's only a simple text-file, but i never got wpa to work in dsl. So what i can do? Maybe it's a driver problem oder so, but i use the same driver i used to configure wlan & wpa in puppy. So why do you attack ME? And i said too, that the network wizard is the ONLY advantage in puppy linux, so puppy can't be my favourite distro ...

DSL is great, but i use linux only on my old laptop & not on my main pc and for me it's necessary, that i get wpa to work with my linux pc. I can't count the different ways i tried to get dsl to work correctly (i spent many evenings for weeks) ... and maybe you think, i'm to silly to get the wpa thing to work ... and if you only wanna hear people, who've no problems configuring different things, so this isn't the right forum for me. I tried so many things in the configuration file ... but none worked. Maybe it's no big problem and i only made i little mistake, but i can't find out what. I'will post the configuration file i've written maybe tomorrow or so ...

But this ...

Posting your attempts i.e, configuration file(s). brand and model of netcard and how you have installed DSL and version would have avoided all this.

If you come to ask for help, then please provide specifics. There are many here who can help.

If no specifics are given other than repeatedly posting ... this other OS is easy ... is not helpful to anyone who might be inclined to help you. In fact, it is usually a cause to be ignored.

Typically the text file is netcard brand specific and posting all that I have mentioned above will be most helpful to trying to get you going.
