I have Cox cable.  DSL sees my card but I don't appear to be connected to the net.  When I type a url in the browser I get an error message.  Anybody have any suggestions?  Thanks.  Oh yeah, I don't know squat about Linux.

Can you be a bit more specific about that error message?

You could also try these two commands in a terminal window:
ping www.dslos.com
ping 65.254.46.177
If you get an answer from second, but not the first, then your network is up, but domain name translation into ip adress doesn't work.

Thanks.  I'll get back to you on the error message.  I'll try those commands as well.  I'm working in Windows and I gotta boot into DSL.

I figured it out.  I failed to type in "www."  Guess I'm used to the windows based Mozzilla Firefox where you can leave out the www.

I'm trying different flavors of Linux...again (been trying for 7 years.  It gets a little easier each time) because I'm so weary of MS constant security problems and never ending patches and buggy bloatware, etc, etc.
