Just to check, Milkshaw, are you running DSL from CD or are you running DSL from a hard drive/flash install?

I tried this from a live CD with an LTModem but I couldn't get it to connect. It recognizes the modem and 'opens' it but then it just site and clicks when trying to dialout.

Chris:

Just to check, are you using a controlerless modem? I am pretty sure you are out of luck if the modem is a controllerless modem. If the chip on it says HCF, you are out of luck. If it says HSF on it, you can probably get it to work with some tweaking.

I would download the wvdial.dsl myDSL package and see if it is a dialer program. wvdial is super easy to configure.

Also, I would reccomend using a text editor to look at the pci entries in /proc to see if you can 1) see the type of winmodem you have (HSF or HCF) and 2) see if the modem is actually being recognized by the kernel.

I used it in frugal on a hard drive.  I don't see why it would make a difference...liveCD and frugal are nearly identical.
