i have just done a HD install to my IBM thinkpad 380ED and now i have some questions:

* how can i use the infrared port to send and recieve files from my     cellphone or pocketpc?

* my sound is not working, i have a Crystal cs4232 soundchip, i think... how to solve this, well even if it works, how to test it? cant find any sound files in dsl...

* are there any powersaving utilitys available for my laptop?

* is there a nautilus like filemanager available for dsl?

ps: i do not have an internet connection nor usb on this laptop, so all has to be done by floppys and cdroms

Peter,

Im running a IBM 385ED .  I cant get the mouse to work
It will move but I cannot click?
You probably have a similar trackpad ( the red eraser looking thing) .  Does yours work?

about the audio-- you will need a couple modprobe commands, I forget what they are because I did a reinstall and lost my peice of paper with the modprobe commands.  But after entering the modprobe it should work try googling it.

hey there peter, try this modprobes at the CLI, your sound should work beautifully.

modprobe cs4232 io=0x530 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0 mpuio=0x330 mpuirq=5

then

modprobe opl3 io=0x388

that should get it runnin for ya. GL with the touchpad.
