Hi anybody,
please pardon my bad english. I am new in linux und DSL. I just installed DSL 3.0.1 as a debian installation on my old Olivetti Echos P100D Notebook (P100 with 24 MB Ram). Now i do not know how to configure xserver so that i get a readeble display. Where are the configuration data stored?

It was very hard work to install the system with 34 floppys because i have no cd-drive and TomsRTBT did not accept my PCMCIA-Network-Card. Now this works, but i hadly can read what the display shows....

I read that the built in Chips and Technologies chipset is supported by the Xfree86 SVGA driver, but i do not know how to install and configure this.

Last question, would it be better (i have internet connection in runlevel 2) to get the newest version of DSL (3.1) and install this befor going on?

So, if anybody can help me i would be very grateful.

Jan

Use xsetup (in terminal run xsetup.sh) for the included tinyx server, and/or see the vga= or fb bootcodes.

If you need to use a specific driver, you will have to load the full x server.

It is running now, but the colors are crazy. It looks likea negative pattern. One can hardly read the fronts. How can i change this to a "normal" eyefriendly mode?

Could you please post the name and content of the relevant configuration-file please?

Just use xsetup or the bootcodes.  My guess is that you need to use some of fb code for your laptop.

However, If you really want to manually edit the tinyx server, it is in ~/.xserverrc
