You are compiling on a 486?!?!?!?!?!
Are you a masochist or something sheesh...a kernel compile will take you 3 days!!!!
It took 6hrs to compile the 2.4.27 kernel on my compaq presario 1700 (600Mhz, 128Meg ram [running in a VirtualPC terminal FC1])
Wow I can only imagin what it would take on a 486!!!
